Tweets, Chirps and Squawks vs Twins







Thankfully, the Red Sox hung on for an ugly split against the lowly Minnesota Twins. "Pretty Ricky" Porcello didn't live up to his moniker with regards to his outing but was good enough to remain undefeated at Fenway with a record of 10-0 in 11 starts with an ERA of 3.21. Porcello has been remarkably consistent though overall winning his last 7 games. Rick pushed his record to 13-2 with a 3.57 ERA. He trails only the Orioles Chris Tillman and banished White Sox ace Chris Sale in wins in the junior circuit.

 Offensively the Red Sox have homered in their last 15 games with a total of 28 long balls registered. Hanley Ramirez has led the charge with 5 dingers in his last 5 games In his last 23 games including a three run shot yesterday afternonn in the finale. Hanley is batting .337 with 8 HRs 18 runs, 7 doubles and 21 RBI in his last 23 games. Travis Shaw has also been stretching things out homering in 4 of the past 5 series.

 Defensively, Boston discovered that you just can't chuck a utility guy out in right field. Brock Holt and Michael Martinez must have had Dwight Evans reaching for his glove with some hideous approaches to some fly balls. It was a sloppy series with the leather for the Red Sox, but Mookie is expected back today against the Tigers which should solidify the defense in Fenway's spacioss right field.

Home field success is a must for any team, especially the Red Sox. Taking a look at the table below, Boston is making the most of their opportunities at home and have a record of 34-22 which is the second most wins at home in the Majors sitting behind the Orioles' total of 36. They are tenth in winning percentage at home and will now have to take their playoff fight on the road with only 25 home games left on the 2016 schedule.
