Spring Training 2015 Notes - Rays & Yankees

Boston kept the good times rolling with two more wins. They improved to 6-2 and plenty of good signs were noted, especially with Justin Masterson.
Also noted in the Rays tilt was Jackie Bradley Jr. He continued his hit parade as he went 2-3 as did Mike Napoli in the 5-1 win over the Rays.

  OOH! OOH! OOH!
In the "Don't You Forget About Me" section we have Allen Craig who made the trip to play the Yankees and picked up a hit. Manager John Farrell got out his pom poms again and stated he expects Craig to make the trip North with the team. Not a stretch, John, with the coin he is hauling down but just 2-11 so far. Show us more, Allen!

Speaking of Farrell, his buddy's son, Travis Shaw, had a monster day against New York at "The Field of Stein". He had 3 RBI with a 2 run double and a solo shot off former Sawx reliever Andrew Miller. Shaw's dad, Jeff, who was a pitcher and former teammate of Farrell's during their time in Cleveland.

Joe Kelly's fastball was crisp in the 10-6 win over the Bombers, hitting the gun at 99 mph at one point today. Kelly has six strikeouts and one walk in his two spring starts. On the subject of radar guns, it was mentioned on today's broadcast that Red Sox prospect, Bryce Brentz, once was clocked at 93 mph throwing from the outfield. He was good with the stick today going 2-5 with a couple of runs scored.

"Rusney, where you at?" You better get healthy and soon, son, because this guy is on fire.
