I really enjoyed the six innings I witnessed last night before I had to hit the hay in order to rest up for my 8:10 tee time this morning at Countryview Golf Course. Ahhh, the life of a teacher has limitless commitments. Incidentally, if you are a golfer, you should try to get up to my neck of the woods as Prince Edward Island has some of the prettiest and most challenging courses in the country.
For those six glorious innings, I was treated to the real David Price. He stood fast and did what has to do on this trip - prove his worth as a stopper, and he was one inning away from doing just that. If David brings his "A" game in his next two starts on this trip that will certainly go a long way in resolving the internal struggle some fans have with Boston's luck on high ticketed free agent signings.
It is easy to jump all over Hanley after airmailing the throw home in the ninth and gifting a walkoff win to the Angels. He is a polarizing figure, and many either love him or hold him in deepest contempt. I'm glad to say that I've found a happy medium with Ramirez and have absolutely no malice towards his efforts. He has been rock solid at first despite people attempting to downplay his efforts. Did he cost the Sawx the game? As the scoreboard indicated, he did, but the bigger story is where was the offense?
I mean come on, folks. Unless you're new to following this club, you'd know that Boston just can't do close games yet. They have squandered 3 quality starts in this current 4 game losing skid. It's all or nothing, and despite a valiant 8 run effort in the second game of this current nosedive, they have manged only 5 runs in the other three games. To go one step further, the Red Sox are a pathetic 8-32 when they score less than 5 runs. Christ, they barely squeaked out a run last night on a Mookie Betts sac fly against soft tossing Jered Weaver, who barely registered 85 mph on the radar gun.The sleep was much welcome on my part and really made perfect sense seeing how this game was shaping up. Hopefully tonight, the bats will bring the thunder, and I can drift off in peace.
Oh and as for my golf game? Fittingly, in Boston's 100th game, I also reached triple digits with a hefty 103, tacking on 10 strokes after my last outing. I wish I could say that this was a surprise.
